About Us
Little Star
Our church was founded in 1905 to meet the spiritual needs of the Prospect community outside of Johnsonville, South Carolina. Our sanctuary was rebuilt and expanded in 1971 to accommodate the growth and needs of our membership. Recently, we have expanded services to include online streaming. Our hope is to reach more people and spread God’s word.

Original Sanctuary
We are a traditional rural southern church with spirit filled services with testimonies, songs, praise, and preaching. We place emphasis on the teaching and preaching of the timeless truths found in the Bible. We strive to lead people to a deeper relationship with Christ, while offering a place where they can feel at home.
It is our hope that every person walking through our doors feels a moving of the Holy Spirit, finds compassionate support from our brothers and sisters in Christ, and feels like they are welcome in the house of God.
Free Will Baptists
Free Will Baptists are a Christian denomination that emphasizes the belief in free will, particularly regarding salvation. They hold that individuals have the ability to choose to accept or reject God’s grace, contrary to more rigid beliefs such as predestination. The movement originated in the 17th century, influenced by Arminian theology, and became more distinct in the United States in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Key beliefs of Free Will Baptists include:
- Free Will in Salvation: Salvation is available to all, and individuals have the freedom to choose to follow Christ.
- Evangelism: A strong emphasis on sharing the gospel and spreading Christianity.
- Baptism by Immersion: Like other Baptists, they practice believer’s baptism by full immersion.
- Church Autonomy: Local churches are autonomous, with a congregational form of government.
The Free Will Baptist movement grew significantly in the U.S., and the National Association of Free Will Baptists was established in 1935 to provide unity and structure to the movement. Today, Free Will Baptists continue to be active in missions and maintain a distinctive theological position centered on the freedom of choice in salvation.
